Monkeypox (MPX)
Overview
Monkeypox (MPX) is a rare disease caused by infection with the MPX virus. MPX virus is part of the same family of viruses as variola virus, the virus that causes smallpox. MPX symptoms are similar to smallpox symptoms, but milder, and MPX is rarely fatal. MPX is not related to chickenpox. See the links below for more information about MPX.

If an employee has symptoms or has been diagnosed with monkeypox, they must stay home. If you need to take sick leave, there is no need to share a diagnosis, but you must notify your supervisor or department contact of your absence as you normally would for any illness. Employees or supervisors who have questions about leave should contact Jodi Rosenbaum.
