Poultry Handling Safety: Salmonella Germs Information
A Salmonella outbreak has been reported in 23 states, linked to small and backyard farmers working with live baby poultry. Awareness of the outbreak and sharing of information on disease risk and prevention is crucial.
Contact with live poultry can be a source of human Salmonella infections. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water right after touching live poultry or anything in the area where they live and roam.
